Zion Lutheran Church - Chelsea, Michigan
A Word From Pastor Doris - June 08
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs." And he laid his hands on them and went on his way. Matthew 19:14-15
Vacation Bible School is coming this month! This year we will have our sessions in the evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. We hope that this will make it easier for families with working parents to bring their children.
Lyn Horning and Jeannie Gilbert have worked hard to set up the program but as they say, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In this case IT TAKES THE WHOLE CONGREGATION to share the Gospel during Vacation Bible School. I want to invite you to come and help. Age makes no difference! Even if you just come and watch them sing, you will get to know the children in our congregation, and they will come to know you.
This week is not just for members of Zion; it is for friends, neighbors, your children, and even grandchildren or great-grandchildren. We have our grandchildren come and stay for the week to participate. We want to share our love for God with them.
During this time we are planting seeds of the Gospel in the hearts of these little ones, seeds that will grow into faith for a lifetime. The theme is “Son Harvest County Fair.” It will feature Bible stories, crafts, and games. There are helpers needed for each area. Plan to spend the week sharing your gifts and God’s love with these children, ages 18 or 80, we can use your help. See you there!!!
Peace,
Pastor Doris

Jerry Myers, age 61, changed his address from Chelsea to Paradise on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Chelsea Community Hospital. He was born on May 15, 1946 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Clayton and Genevieve (Valant) Myers. Jerry was a Registered Land Surveyor for 30 years. He was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Chelsea; a former Church Council member; a Eucharistic minister and Scripture reader; Sexton of the Zion Cemetery; Zion Cemetery board member; Confirmation instructor; and served on the church property committee. He was also a participant in the Lutheran Via de Cristo movement and was a faithful servant to his Lord. Jerry loved everything about the out of doors.
